This weekend sees the release of Red Riding Hood, a dark and sexy twist on the traditional fable. Catherine Hardwicke directs the beautiful Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez and the scrumptious Brit Max Irons in this Twilightesque mysterious fantasy horror. Valerie (Seyfried) falls for woodcutter Peter (Fernandez) scorned by the disapproval of her parents that she fall for someone with little social status; Henry (Irons) would be a much better choice. But before the inevitable hot mess of a love triangle develops the ‘big bad wolf’ swoops in and attacks the village killing Valerie’s sister and prompting the heroic entrance of Father Solomon (Gary Oldman). But the big question is ... who is the wolf?
Son of Sinead Cusack and Jeremy Irons, the actor/model Max Irons provides some real eye candy in this movie alongside Shiloh Fernandez. The Guildhall School of Music and Drama graduate has modelled for Burberry and Mango among others and his work in theatre (Friedrich Schiller’s ‘Wallenstein’) earned him a nomination for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award.
